Sweet Connections Festival

An event where students can come decorate baked goods and have fun with friends, while all the money can be raised for those in need.

What if decorating a cupcake was all we had to do to provide a safe bed for a local teenager tonight? The Oak Bay Sweet Connection Festival transforms our school gym into a vibrant place of community and creativity. By upgrading a traditional bake sale into an interactive cupcake decoration event, it’ll give families and friends a chance to collaborate on edible art pieces while still having fun. Every $15 ticket gives students a decoration pass, for two plain cupcakes and a tray of decoration. All the money directly goes to the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society (VYES), who fund emergency shelters, hot meals, and crisis support for at-risk teenagers in Greater Victoria. We’ll also have live music from the arts department and student volunteers. A community raffle will drive further engagement, and moves the festival past a passive fundraising, and into an unforgettable interactive event people will want to join.
