Ramp it up! Building Ramps for improved accessibility

We want to fund the building of wheelchair ramps to remove barriers and improve accessibility for local businesses.

Ramp it up! Building Ramps for improved accessibility — project cover

Our class is working with the StopGap Foundation to identify 2 local businesses in need of a wheelchair ramp to increase accessibility to their businesses. According to data published in 2024, the research found that almost 60 percent of public businesses were only partially accessible or not accessible by wheelchairs. Working with guidance from the StopGap Foundation , our class is going to audit businesses in our neighbourhood and work with them to fund a ramp for their front entrances. Depending the size of the gap for their entrance, the ramps range from $350 to $450 each, and we need to generate the funds for these ramps. Nearly all funds will go directly to the construction of the ramps. We hope to make our community more accessible to those in wheelchairs and we hope you can be a champ and fund a ramp!
