Project Pollinate
“Bee” the change: building eco-friendly hydration stations for our local pollinators.

I plan to design and build “hydration stations” to set up in yards and gardens in the East Bay Area, California. This provides a safe space for local pollinators like bees and other insects to rest and rehydrate in order to survive and proliferate. All materials used for the build will be reusable, eco-friendly, and non-toxic. I will then host workshops at my school and local middle schools, providing “Project Pollinate” kits. I will be educating my peers, specifically the 71 students on my Science Olympiad team, who will help run the workshops at the middle schools. All information will be compiled into a website for the project with informational videos and tutorials so individuals in other communities can build their own versions of hydration stations. Funding will buy supplies to build and maintain the hydration stations, but also event and workshop materials and publicity supplies like posters and flyers.
