Opening Closed Doors
Opening Closed Doors empowers Project SEARCH interns to explore local workplaces, connect with employers and build employment opportunities.

Opening Closed Doors is an initiative where Project SEARCH interns explore local employment opportunities beyond everyday customer interactions. By visiting various local workplaces, such as retail stores, manufacturers, hotels and farms, students investigate behind-the-scenes operations, engage with staff and identify required skills and daily responsibilities in a variety of workplaces. This process empowers students to take active ownership of their transition into the workforce by discovering diverse career pathways and evaluating job compatibility. Students reflect on their developing skills and assess what they need for a desired job. By discovering unseen occupations, new work environments and participating in necessary preparation, students transform from curious observers into informed job seekers. We are opening doors to future career possibilities.
