Lane Tech Science Olympiad Build Clinic
Engineering workshop for students and coaches from new Science Olympiad teams in Chicagoland , especially from under-resourced schools.

On Nov. 14th, we will be bringing together middle & high school students and coaches from new and/or under-resourced Science Olympiad teams in the Chicagoland area (with priority for in-need CPS schools serving underrepresented populations and/or experiencing budget deficits) to meet engineering event experts and veteran student mentors. In this Saturday workshop, participants get to learn about various engineering principles and skills in order to construct builds that they can take home to their own teams. From there, they can utilize their newly gained knowledge to do trial-and-error testing, make improvements, and compete. Funds will be used to buy materials for the build construction portion of the workshop. The goal is to provide new and/or budget-restrained teams the chance to engineer builds with an opportunity for veteran guidance and feedback. Student mentors from Lane Tech and other Chicagoland schools will foster a supportive community of STEM learners.
