Hack4Philly

City-wide initiative working to host hackathons through a network of clubs across Philadelphia high schools.

Hack4Philly is a city-wide initiative collaborating with some of Philadelphia's top high schools, including Central, Masterman, Carver Engineering and Science, and Northeast High School, to turn high schoolers into startup founders. Through hands-on workshops and project based learning, we teach students how to build their ideas, equipping them with technical skills such as coding, UI/UX design, and product management. From web development, to using Figma, along with pitching their projects, students turn concepts into creations. Hack4Philly is also partnered with Hack Club to reward members for what they make. Another goal for the clubs is to host hackathons open to all Philadelphia high schoolers, regardless of their experience level. However, we lack the funds to allocate towards prizes or catering food for attendees. Receiving this grant would allow us to purchase fun prizes like plushies or gift cards for winners, custom stickers, and appetizing food plus snacks, across multiple events.
