Hack The Rex
One surprise prompt. Four hours. Hack The Rex turns NACI students’ wild “what ifs” into games, inventions, and experiences.

Hack The Rex starts with one surprise prompt and ends with a room full of things students never thought they could make. In this free, four-hour event at NACI, students in Grades 9–12 will team up to create games, physical prototypes, interactive stories, or websites. No coding experience is required: artists, aspiring healthcare professionals, debaters, and builders all have something to contribute. Teams will choose their own approach, test their creations with classmates, and improve them before a showcase judged by volunteer teachers. Through making and sharing, students will explore skills used in engineering, healthcare, design, and communication while gaining confidence to turn ideas into action. The $1,000 will fund shared materials, food, and prizes, including mini challenges throughout the afternoon. Keeping participation free gives students a chance to meet collaborators, discover new interests, and build something together.
